REBUILDING IRAQ essays Since the acts of terror on 9/11, President George W. Bush has cracked down on suspicious behavior all around the world to prevent future terrorist attacks. After the tragic September morning, Americans and President Bush entered a war to rid the world of terrorism and anyone responsible for supporting terrorism. On September 11, 2001, America felt its vulnerability. It was a shock to most Americans that the United States homeland was attacked by a foreign entity. President George W. Bush spoke about the war on terrorism saying, We resolved then, and we are resolved today, to confront every threat from any source that could bring sudden terror and suffering to America. There is no distinction between terrorists who commit these acts of terror and those who harbor terrorists (qtd. in Brainyquote). When America attacked Iraq and Saddam Hussein, we attacked a nation that was supported terrorism and represented a gathering threat to the American people. America could no longer ignore the threat of Saddam Husseins Iraq; our negligence could have lead to more terrorist acts and ultimately come in the form of a mushroom cloud. On June 6, 1944, American troops embarked on a mission to free Europe from the clutches of Adolph Hitler, a dictator who terrorized his own people and conquered his neighbors. Today, our troops have embarked on a mission to free Iraq from the clutches of Saddam Hussein, a dictator who terrorizes his own people and has tried to conquer his neighbors. Americas military has shredded through Iraq freeing all Iraqis from the dictatorship of Saddam with the objective of creating a new democratic Iraq. As the war in Iraq continues and casualties mount, America has shifted its focus from combat to rebuilding Iraqs infrastructure.
